POLANDIts varied landscape, its magnificent buildings and its excellent vodka are known all over the world. Poland is bordered by the Russian Federation, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Slovaquia, the Czech Republic, Germany and the Baltic sea.
Mountain lovers will enjoy a developed net of refuges and hostels. For those who prefer water sports, the north part is known as the Country of the Thousand Lakes.
Warsaw’s historical centre has been declared UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is worth mentioning the Old Town Market Place, with its bright coloured houses; the Warsaw History Museum; St. John’s Cathedral; St. Ann’s Church; the Royal Road, one of the streets with a richest history; the National Theatre and the breathtaking castle of Wilanów, surrounded by lush parks.
Krakow is the biggest city in Poland. On Wawel Hill you can find the Cathedral, the Royal Castle, the Lost Wawel Exposition and the Dragon's Cave. Around the old town the visitor can see ancient buildings such as the ones in the Jewish Quarter; the textile market; and the Planty, a green area spreading along the medieval walls, nowadays demolished. In the outskirts of the city you can find Auschwitz concentration camp, symbol of the horror of the Holocaust and also UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Since the fall of Communism in 1989, tourism in Poland has experienced a dramatic growth.
